Essential Hosting: Change Your FTP Password

Here you will learn how to change the FTP password for your Essential Hosting in the Customer Area. You need this password to access your web hosting files using an FTP client.

Who is this guide for?

This guide applies exclusively to Essential Hosting without cPanel on the new Webland platform (WHMCS).

Are you using the System Configurator or Domain Manager? If so, log in at classic.webland.ch. The following steps do not apply to the previous Webland platform.

Does your hosting use cPanel? If so, change your FTP password through the FTP management interface in cPanel.

Requirements

  • You have an active Essential Hosting service on the new Webland platform.

  • You are logged in to the Customer Area.

  • Your user account has the necessary permissions to manage the hosting service.

When you change your FTP password, you must also update the password in all FTP clients and applications that use this connection. Connections using the previous password will no longer work.

1. Open Your Essential Hosting

Open Services in the main menu of the Customer Area.

Find your Essential Hosting service.

Click View Details for the corresponding service.

This will open the management page for your web hosting.

2. Open the FTP Password Management

Click Change Password in the menu on the left-hand side.

This will open the page where you can change your FTP password.

3. Set a New FTP Password

Enter your new FTP password. Once it is sufficiently secure, the input field will turn green.

Repeat the password in the confirmation field.

Click Save Changes.

After saving, you will receive a confirmation that the change has been completed.

It may take a few minutes for the new password to become active.

Keep your password in a safe place. You will need it to connect using your FTP client.

4. Update Your FTP Client

Open your FTP client, such as FileZilla.

Update the saved password for the connection to your web hosting.

Continue using your existing FTP username and the newly configured password.

If you do not know where to change the password in your FTP client, refer to the software's documentation.
