Learn how to install WordPress directly from the client area using the WordPress wizard and access your new website afterwards.
Who is this guide for?
This guide applies exclusively to Essential Hosting without cPanel on the new Webland platform (WHMCS), provided your plan includes the WordPress wizard.
Do you use the System Configurator or Domain Manager? Sign in at classic.webland.ch. The steps below do not apply to the classic Webland platform.
Does your hosting use cPanel? Follow the guide “Installing WordPress in cPanel”.
Requirements
You have an active Essential Hosting plan with the WordPress wizard and database functionality.
You are signed in to the client area on the new Webland platform.
Your user has the required permissions to manage the hosting service.
A database is available for the installation.
The intended domain or subdomain is configured as a website address in your hosting. The wizard refers to this configuration as a virtual host.
1. Open your Essential Hosting service
Open Services in the main menu of the client area.
Find your Essential Hosting service.
Click View Details next to the relevant service.
2. Open the WordPress wizard
Select the WordPress Wizard on your hosting service’s management page.
The wizard guides you through the setup.
3. Check the requirements
The wizard checks whether a database and a virtual host are available for the installation.
If both requirements are met, click Next. If a requirement is missing, configure it in your hosting management first, then open the wizard again.
4. Enter your website information
Enter a website name. This becomes the title of your WordPress website.
Select the domain or subdomain where the website should be accessible.
Under Advanced Options, check the installation directory. The default is
public_html. Only change the path if you intend to install WordPress in a different directory.Click Next.
Check the selected domain and directory carefully, especially if an existing website is already stored there.
5. Set up the WordPress administrator
Create the user login you will use to manage your WordPress website:
Enter the desired administrator username.
Enter an email address you can access for the administrator.
Set a long, unique password that meets the displayed password requirements.
Store the sign-in details securely.
Click Next.
These credentials are for WordPress. They are separate from your Webland client area credentials.
6. Review your details and start the installation
Review the information summary, particularly:
Website name
Domain or subdomain
Installation directory
Administrator username and email address
If everything is correct, click Install WordPress.
7. Check the installation status
Installation can take up to five minutes.
Return to the service overview to check its progress. Once installation is complete, a message confirms that WordPress has been successfully deployed.
Wait for this confirmation before continuing with your website setup.
8. Open your website
Open the domain or subdomain you selected during installation in your browser. If you selected a subdirectory, include it in the website address.
Once installation is complete, you can access your WordPress website and start customising it.
Frequently asked questions and troubleshooting
I cannot find the WordPress wizard.
Check that you have opened the correct Essential Hosting service and that your plan includes the wizard. If the option is still missing, contact our support team.
I cannot click “Next” in the wizard.
Check the displayed requirements. A database and a domain or subdomain configured as a virtual host must be available for installation.
The installation does not finish.
Check the status in the service overview and review any error messages. If installation remains incomplete after an extended wait, contact our support team and include the affected domain and the displayed message.
Which credentials do I need for WordPress?
Use the administrator username and password you set in the WordPress wizard.
