cPanel: Installing WordPress with WP Toolkit

Learn how to install WordPress through WP Toolkit in cPanel and manage your website afterwards.

Who is this guide for?

This guide applies exclusively to customers whose hosting with cPanel is managed on the new Webland platform (WHMCS) and whose plan includes WP Toolkit.

Do you use Essential Hosting without cPanel? Follow the guide “Essential Hosting: Installing WordPress”.

Do you use the System Configurator or Domain Manager? Sign in at classic.webland.ch. The steps below do not apply to the classic Webland platform.

Requirements

  • You have an active hosting service with cPanel and WP Toolkit.

  • You can access the hosting service in the client area.

  • The intended domain or subdomain is configured in cPanel.

  • Your plan has sufficient storage and capacity for another database.

You do not need to create an empty database beforehand. WP Toolkit creates the required database and database user during installation.

1. Sign in to cPanel

  1. Open the home page (dashboard) in the Webland client area.

  2. Find the relevant hosting plan in your active services overview.

  3. Click Log in to cPanel.

You will be redirected to cPanel through automatic sign-in.

2. Open WP Toolkit

In cPanel, look under Domains for WordPress Management or WP Toolkit and open it.

Alternatively, use the cPanel search.

3. Prepare a new installation

Click Install WordPress or Install.

The installation window lets you configure the following:

Setting

What to enter or select

The domain or subdomain and, optionally, a subdirectory.

Website title

The name of your WordPress website.

Website language

Your preferred language, if the field is displayed.

Administrator details

A username, an email address you can access and a long, unique password.

Database

Details for the database and user that will be created automatically.

Automatic updates

Your preferred settings for the available update categories.

4. Install WordPress

  1. Review all details, especially the domain, installation path and administrator email address.

  2. Click Install.

  3. Wait for WP Toolkit to confirm successful installation.

The new website then appears in WP Toolkit’s installation overview.

5. Open and manage your website

Open the website using the displayed address and check that it is accessible.

Click Log in for the relevant installation to open the WordPress administration area.

Depending on the enabled features, WP Toolkit lets you:

  • Review WordPress installations and their status.

  • Manage themes and plugins.

  • Run updates and configure automatic updates.

  • Review security settings.

  • Create and restore backups, if this feature is available.

Frequently asked questions and troubleshooting

I cannot find WP Toolkit.

Search cPanel for WordPress Management or WP Toolkit. If it is missing, check whether your hosting plan includes it or contact our support team.

The installation reports a database error.

Check that your plan allows another database and that the entered database values are accepted. Review the exact error message.

My website only appears under /wordpress or /blog.

A subdirectory was selected during installation. Check the installation path in WP Toolkit. If you want the website directly at your domain, contact our support team for help if needed before moving an existing installation.

Installation is complete, but the website is unavailable.

Check that the domain is configured in cPanel and its DNS records point to the correct hosting. An HTTPS address also requires a valid SSL certificate.
