Essential Hosting: Find Your FTP Login Details

Essential Hosting: Find Your FTP Login Details

Here you will learn where to find the FTP login details for your Essential Hosting in the Customer Area. You will need these details to access your web hosting files using an FTP client such as FileZilla.

Who is this guide for?

This guide applies exclusively to Essential Hosting without cPanel on the new Webland platform (WHMCS).

Are you using the System Configurator or Domain Manager? If so, log in at classic.webland.ch. The following steps do not apply to the previous Webland platform.

Does your hosting use cPanel? If so, you can find your FTP login details in the corresponding cPanel management interface.

Requirements

  • You have an active Essential Hosting service on the new Webland platform.

  • You are logged in to the Customer Area.

  • Your user account has the necessary permissions to manage the hosting service.

  • You use an FTP client, such as FileZilla, to connect to your web hosting.

1. Open Your Essential Hosting

Open Services in the main menu of the Customer Area.

Find your Essential Hosting service.

Click View Details for the corresponding service.

This will open the management page for your web hosting.

2. View the FTP Connection Details

Scroll down to the Connection Details section on the management page.

Here you will find the information you need to connect to your web hosting:

  • FTP/SFTP Username: The username used to log in.

  • SSH (S)FTP URL: The server address you connect to.

  • SSH (S)FTP Port: The port used for the connection. Port 22 is recommended for SFTP.

You can then enter these details into your FTP client.

3. Connect to Your Web Hosting

Open your FTP client, such as FileZilla.

Enter the connection details from your Customer Area:

  • Server: The displayed SSH (S)FTP URL.

  • Username: Your FTP/SFTP username.

  • Password: Your configured FTP password.

  • Port: 22 for an SFTP connection.

Select SFTP as the connection protocol and establish the connection.

We recommend using SFTP because data is transferred over an encrypted connection.

4. Manage Your FTP Password

For security reasons, your existing FTP password is not displayed in the Customer Area.

If you have forgotten your password, you can set a new one.

For more information, see our guide “Essential Hosting: Change Your FTP Password”.

After changing your password, it may take a few minutes for the new password to become active.

What is the difference between FTP and SFTP?

FTP is used to transfer files between your computer and your web hosting.

SFTP also allows you to transfer files, but uses an encrypted connection via SSH.

We therefore recommend using SFTP over port 22 to connect to your web hosting.

My FTP client displays an error message.

First, check the connection details you entered and try connecting again.

If the problem persists, contact our support team and provide the affected domain name and the exact error message.
