Use these settings to configure your Essential Mail mailbox in an email application. IMAP synchronises your emails and folders. SMTP is used to send emails.
Who is this guide for?
This guide applies exclusively to Essential Mail included with Basis Hosting on the new Webland platform (WHMCS). Your hosting and the relevant Essential Mail mailbox must be managed on that platform.
Do you use the System Configurator or Domain Manager? Sign in at classic.webland.ch and use the settings provided there for your email product. The server settings below do not apply to email accounts on the classic platform or to other email products.
Requirements
You have an active Essential Mail mailbox included with Basis Hosting on the new Webland platform.
You know the mailbox’s full email address and password.
Your email application supports IMAP and encrypted connections.
1. Enter the server settings in your email application
Add a new account in your email application. If necessary, choose manual setup and select IMAP as the account type.
Enter the following settings:
Function | Protocol | Server name | Port | Encryption |
Incoming mail | IMAP | mail1.ch1.essentialhosting.net | 993 | SSL/TLS |
Outgoing mail | SMTP | mail1.ch1.essentialhosting.net | 465 | SSL/TLS |
Outgoing mail, alternative | SMTP | mail1.ch1.essentialhosting.net | 587 | STARTTLS |
Choose one of the two SMTP options for outgoing mail. The port and encryption method must match.
Sign-in details for incoming and outgoing mail
Setting | Value |
Username | Your full email address |
Password | Your Essential Mail mailbox password |
Authentication | Required, including for the SMTP server |
Use your mailbox password. Your WHMCS client area password is not intended for this connection.
If your email application asks, use the same sign-in details for the outgoing server as for the incoming server.
2. Find the server settings in the client area
You can also find these details in the client area on the new Webland platform:
Sign in to the client area.
Open Services in the main menu.
Find the relevant Essential Mail service and click View Details.
Open the Server Settings for Email Clients section.
This section provides the incoming and outgoing server details for your service.
