Essential Hosting: Creating an Email Account

Learn how to create an Essential Mail mailbox for your domain in the client area, such as [email protected]. You can then use the mailbox through webmail or an email application.

Who is this guide for?

This guide applies exclusively to Essential Mail included with Basis Hosting on the new Webland platform (WHMCS). Mailboxes are managed directly in the client area, without cPanel.

Do you use the System Configurator or Domain Manager? Sign in at classic.webland.ch. The steps below do not apply to the classic Webland platform.

Does your hosting use cPanel? Create your email accounts through the email management section in cPanel.

Requirements

  • You have an active hosting plan with Essential Mail on the new Webland platform.

  • The relevant domain is active and assigned to the email service.

  • You are signed in to the client area.

  • Your user has the required permissions to manage the email service.

1. Open the email service

  1. Open Services in the main menu of the client area.

  2. Find the Email Hosting service associated with the relevant domain.

  3. Click View Details.

This opens the email service’s management page.

2. Open email account management

Click Manage Email Accounts.

Here, you can view existing mailboxes and find the section for creating a new email account.

3. Create a new email account

Go to the Add New Email Account section:

  1. Enter the desired email address and check the associated domain.

  2. Set a long, unique password that meets the displayed password requirements.

  3. Enter the password again in the confirmation field.

  4. Click Add New Email Account.

Store the password securely. You will need it to sign in to webmail and configure the mailbox in an email application.

Your mailbox password is separate from your Webland client area password.

4. Check that the mailbox was created

Once created successfully, the new mailbox appears in the email account overview.

Provisioning may take a few minutes. During this time, signing in through webmail or an email application may not yet be available.

Wait a few minutes before trying to sign in for the first time.

5. Use your mailbox

Once provisioning is complete, you can:

  • Open your mailbox through webmail in your browser.

  • Set it up in an email application such as Outlook or Apple Mail.

Sign in using your full email address and mailbox password.

You can find the required server details in the guide “Essential Mail: IMAP and SMTP Settings for Your Email Application”.
