Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on the New Webland Platform (WHMCS)

Two-factor authentication protects your personal user login with a time-limited, one-time code in addition to your password. An authenticator app on your mobile device generates this code.

Who is this guide for?

This guide applies exclusively to customers whose hosting is managed on the new Webland platform (WHMCS).

Do you use the System Configurator or Domain Manager? Your hosting is managed on the classic Webland platform. Sign in at classic.webland.ch. The steps below do
not apply to that platform.

The relevant platform depends on where your hosting is managed, regardless of how long you have been a Webland customer.

Requirements

  • Your hosting is managed on the new Webland platform (WHMCS).

  • You are signed in to the client area with your personal user login.

  • An authenticator app is installed on your mobile device, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or Authy.

This setup applies to your personal user login. Other users linked to your client account must set up 2FA individually.

1. Open security settings

  1. Click your name in the top-right corner of the client area.

  2. Select Security Settings.

2. Start the setup

  1. In the two-factor authentication section, click Click here to Enable.

  2. Select Time Based Tokens.

  3. Follow the next steps.

A QR code appears, allowing you to link your user login to the app.

3. Link your authenticator app

  1. Open the authenticator app on your mobile device.

  2. Select the option to add a new account and scan a QR code.

  3. Scan the QR code displayed in the client area.

  4. Enter the 6-digit code from the app in the client area.

  5. Click Submit to confirm the setup.

Use the current code before it expires. The app generates a new code regularly.

4. Store your backup code securely

After successful setup, a Backup Code is displayed.

Store it somewhere safe that you can access without your mobile device, such as a password manager. This code allows you to sign in if you lose access to your authenticator app.

Save the code before closing the window or signing out.

5. Test signing in with 2FA

  1. Sign out of the client area.

  2. Sign in again with your email address and password.

  3. Open your authenticator app and select the entry for your Webland user login.

  4. Enter the current one-time code.

If you can sign in successfully, setup is complete.

Frequently asked questions and troubleshooting

I have not received a code by email or SMS.

The Time Based Tokens method does not send codes. Open your authenticator app: it generates the code directly on your mobile device.

My code is not accepted.

  • Check that you have selected the correct entry for your Webland user login.

  • Wait for a new code and enter it before it expires.

  • Make sure your mobile device is set to update its date and time automatically.

The QR code cannot be scanned.

Use the scanning feature inside your authenticator app and allow the app to access your camera. Make sure the entire QR code is clearly visible.

If scanning still fails, contact our support team.

I no longer have access to my authenticator app.

Use the option to enter your backup code when signing in. If you no longer have this code either, contact our support team so we can review how to restore your access.
