Frequently Asked Questions and Troubleshooting
Can I change my email password without knowing the old one?
Yes. If you can access the Webland System Configurator, you can set a new password for the desired email account without entering the previous email password.
Where can I find the password settings?
Log in to the System Configurator and navigate to:
Hosting / Manage Email → Manage → Email / CloudOffice → Email / CloudOffice Accounts
Then expand the desired account using the arrow.
When does the new password become active?
The new password takes effect immediately after the change has been saved successfully.
Do I also need to change the password in Outlook or on my smartphone?
Yes. If you have configured the email account on these devices, you must update the stored password so the applications can continue accessing your mailbox.
Why is my new password not accepted?
Check the following:
Do both password entries match?
Does the password contain unsupported special characters?
Have you used umlauts or accented characters?
Was the change saved successfully?
What should I do if I cannot log in after changing my password?
Check that you are entering the new password correctly and that your email client is no longer using the previous password.
If the issue persists, you can set the password again in the System Configurator.
Tips for a Secure Email Password
Use a long, unique password that you do not reuse for other accounts.
Combine uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and supported special characters.
Avoid easily guessed passwords such as names, birth dates or simple number sequences.
Use a password manager whenever possible.
Change your password especially if you suspect it has become known to an unauthorised person.
