Do you want to prevent email users from changing their passwords themselves through WebAccess?
On the previous Webland platform (Classic), you can disable this function through the Domain Settings in WebAccess.
To make this change, you need an email account with Domain Administrator permissions. You can then disable password changes for users of your domain.
Who is this guide for?
This guide applies exclusively to customers who manage their email accounts through the System Configurator on the previous Webland platform (Classic).
You can access it at classic.webland.ch.
Are you already using the new Webland platform (WHMCS)? Then log in via the new Webland website. The following steps do not apply to the new platform.
What Happens When Password Changes Are Disabled?
Depending on the account configuration, email users can normally change their own passwords through WebAccess.
When you enable the Disable Password Changes option, users of the affected domain can no longer change their passwords themselves through WebAccess.
This means:
Email users can no longer change their passwords through WebAccess.
Password management remains available through the Webland System Configurator.
The setting is applied at domain level and affects the email users of that domain.
Important: Disabling password changes does not prevent users from logging in to their email accounts. It only restricts their ability to change their passwords themselves through WebAccess.
Requirements
To disable password changes, the following requirements must be met:
You have active email hosting on the previous Webland platform (Classic).
You know your customer number and customer password.
You have access to the email management section of your domain.
You have an email account with Domain Administrator permissions, or you can configure one.
You can log in to WebAccess using this administrator account.
Step 1: Enable Domain Administrator Permissions
Before you can disable password changes for your email users, you need an email account with the appropriate administrator permissions.
You can configure these permissions in the System Configurator.
1. Log in to the System Configurator
Open the System Configurator.
Log in using your customer number and customer password.
2. Open email management
Select Hosting / Manage Email from the main menu.
Find the desired domain.
Click Manage next to the corresponding domain.
3. Open email account management
Select Email / CloudOffice.
Then choose Email / CloudOffice Accounts.
4. Assign administrator permissions
Create a new email account or open the settings of an existing account.
Navigate to the Advanced Settings.
Enable the Mail Server Administration permission.
Save the changes.
The selected email account now has the required administrator permissions.
Security note: Only assign administrator permissions to trusted individuals. These permissions provide access to administrative settings for your email domain.
Step 2: Disable Password Changes in WebAccess
Once you have configured an email account with Domain Administrator permissions, you can disable password changes for your users.
1. Log in to WebAccess
Open the WebAccess login page for your email environment.
Log in using the email address and password of your Domain Administrator account.
Important: Use the email account with administrator permissions for this step, not your System Configurator customer number.
2. Open Domain Settings
Click your profile picture or profile icon in the upper-right corner.
Select Domain Settings.
3. Open Restrictions
Select General from the menu.
Navigate to Restrictions.
4. Disable password changes
Find the Disable Password Changes option.
Enable this setting.
Confirm the change by clicking OK.
The setting will be applied to the selected email domain.
Result: What Changes for Email Users?
After enabling this restriction, email users of the affected domain can no longer change their passwords themselves through WebAccess.
Email passwords can still be managed through the System Configurator.
If a user forgets their password or needs a new one, it can be reset through email account management.
Change an email password through the System Configurator
Log in to the System Configurator.
Open Hosting / Manage Email.
Click Manage next to the relevant domain.
Select Email / CloudOffice → Email / CloudOffice Accounts.
Expand the desired email account using the arrow.
Enter and confirm the new password.
Click Save.
The new password becomes active immediately after it has been saved successfully.
Note: If an email account password is changed, it may also need to be updated in Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird or on mobile devices.
How Can I Allow Password Changes Again?
If you later want to allow your email users to change their passwords themselves through WebAccess, you can reverse the setting.
How to proceed
Log in to WebAccess using your Domain Administrator account.
Open Domain Settings through the profile icon.
Navigate to General → Restrictions.
Disable the Disable Password Changes option.
Confirm the change by clicking OK.
Password changes through WebAccess will then be allowed again, provided no other restrictions apply.
Important Notes
Administrator permissions required: You must have the appropriate Domain Administrator permissions to change this setting.
Domain-wide setting: The restriction applies to email users of the selected domain.
WebAccess: Users can no longer change their own passwords through WebAccess once the restriction is enabled.
System Configurator: Password management remains available through the System Configurator.
Existing passwords: Enabling this restriction does not automatically change existing passwords.
Security: Use a strong, unique password for your Domain Administrator account and protect the login credentials against unauthorised access.

Tip
If several people use email accounts within the same domain, centralised password management can be useful.
However, make sure password changes can be carried out promptly when needed and that affected users are informed about any changes.
Done! You now know how to disable password changes through WebAccess for your domain's email users and continue managing their passwords centrally through the System Configurator.
