Webland offers a free migration of your existing web hosting to another server platform.
Who Does This Guide Apply To?
This guide applies to customers who manage their hosting through the System Configurator on the previous Webland platform (Classic).
You can access it at classic.webland.ch.
Already using the new Webland platform (WHMCS/cPanel)? Log in via the new Webland website. The following steps apply exclusively to the previous platform.
How the Web Server Migration Works
Step 1: Request the Migration via an Authenticated Message
If you would like to migrate your web hosting to another server platform, send us an authenticated message through the System Configurator.
Follow these steps:
Log in to the System Configurator using your customer number and customer password.
Select Customer Account.
Click Send Authenticated Message.
Let us know that you would like to request a web server migration.
Please specify whether:
you would like your existing website files transferred to the new server, or
you prefer a new, empty web hosting account.
Step 2: Set Up the New Web Hosting
After receiving your request, we will set up new web hosting on the requested server platform alongside your existing hosting.
Your current hosting will remain in place during the preparation process, allowing you to complete the migration and test your website on the new server.
Step 3: Transfer Your Website Files
Once the new hosting is ready, your website files can be transferred.
You have the following options:
Transfer the files yourself: Upload your website files to the new server via FTP using the corresponding Realtime Host.
Transfer by Webland: If you would like us to transfer your existing website files, please mention this in your authenticated message.
Step 4: Test Your Website on the New Server
After transferring your website files, you can test your website using the Realtime Host.
Check that your website works correctly and that all required content is accessible.
This allows you to identify potential issues before your domain is redirected to the new server.
Step 5: Update the DNS Records
Once your website is working correctly on the new server, we will update the DNS zone accordingly.
The relevant DNS records will be adjusted to point to the new web server, ensuring that your domain uses the new hosting environment.
Note: DNS changes may take some time to become effective everywhere due to DNS caching.
Step 6: Deactivate the Previous Web Hosting
After the migration and DNS changes have been completed successfully, your previous web hosting will be deactivated.
Your website will then be served from the new server platform.
