Domain Manager: Activate a Domain Name

How can I activate my domain name in the Webland Domain Manager?

Do you want to activate your domain name and ensure that it can be resolved through the correct nameservers?

On the previous Webland platform (Classic), you can configure and manage your domain's nameservers directly through the Domain Manager.

To activate your domain, you must configure at least two valid nameservers.

Who is this guide for?

This guide applies exclusively to customers who manage their domains through the Domain Manager on the previous Webland platform (Classic).

You can access it here:

Are you already using the new Webland platform (WHMCS)? Then log in via the new Webland website. The following steps do not apply to the new platform.

What Does Domain Activation Mean?

For a domain to resolve correctly on the internet, it requires a valid nameserver configuration.

Nameservers are responsible for providing the DNS information associated with your domain.

For example, they determine which web server your domain points to and which mail servers are responsible for receiving your emails.

To activate a domain in the Webland Domain Manager, at least two nameservers must be configured.

Important: Activating a domain or configuring its nameservers does not automatically mean that a website or email service has already been set up.

Requirements

To activate your domain name, the following requirements must be met:

  • Your domain is registered and managed through the previous Webland Domain Manager.

  • You have the required Domain Manager login credentials.

  • You know which nameservers you want to use.

  • The selected nameservers have an appropriate DNS configuration for your domain.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Log in to the Domain Manager

  1. Log in using your existing credentials.

2. Select the desired domain

Which Nameservers Should I Use?

If you want to use Webland's DNS management service, you can configure the following Webland nameservers:

Nameserver

Hostname

Nameserver 1

ns1.webland.ch

Nameserver 2

ns2.webland.ch

Nameserver 3

ns3.webland.ch

Nameserver 4

ns4.webland.ch

At least two nameservers are required for activation.

You can also configure all four Webland nameservers.

Note: If your DNS is managed by another provider, you must use that provider's nameservers instead.

How Long Does Activation Take?

After saving and confirming the nameserver changes, it may take some time for the new configuration to become effective across the internet.

Nameserver changes often take several hours due to DNS caching. In some cases, the full transition may take up to 24–48 hours.

During this period, some internet providers may temporarily continue using the previous DNS information.

Important Notes

  • At least two nameservers: A minimum of two valid nameservers must be configured for domain activation.

  • Webland nameservers: Use Webland's nameservers if your DNS zone is managed by Webland.

  • External nameservers: If you use another DNS provider, enter that provider's nameservers.

  • DNS configuration: Make sure the required DNS records exist on the selected nameservers.

  • Website and email: Changing nameservers may affect website availability and email delivery.

  • Confirm the changes: Complete the process using Next → Execute Changes.

Frequently Asked Questions and Troubleshooting

Where can I activate my domain name?

Log in to the Webland Domain Manager.

Select the desired domain and click Edit Domain Names.

You can then enter the nameservers under Nameserver Information.

How many nameservers do I need?

You must configure at least two valid nameservers.

Which nameservers does Webland use?

The Webland nameservers are:

  • ns1.webland.ch

  • ns2.webland.ch

  • ns3.webland.ch

  • ns4.webland.ch

Can I use nameservers from another provider?

Yes. If your DNS is managed by an external provider, you can configure that provider's nameservers.

Make sure the DNS settings are correctly configured with the external provider.

Why is my domain still not accessible after activation?

Possible reasons include:

  • The nameserver change has not yet fully propagated.

  • The DNS zone on the configured nameservers is not set up correctly.

  • Required DNS records are missing.

  • Your website or hosting service has not yet been fully configured.

Will my website and email services be activated automatically?

No. Nameserver configuration only provides the foundation for your domain's DNS resolution.

Your website and email services must also be configured correctly.

Yes. You can edit and update your domain's nameservers through the Domain Manager at any time.

Tip

If you want to connect your domain to Webland hosting, check that the required DNS records for your website and email services are already configured before changing the nameservers.

This can help prevent interruptions during the transition.

Done! You now know how to activate your domain name in the previous Webland Domain Manager and configure the required nameservers.
