System Configurator: Create and Manage FTP Users

How can I create additional FTP users for my web hosting?

This guide explains how to create and manage additional FTP users on the previous Webland platform (Classic). Individual FTP accounts allow you to give different people access to your webspace without sharing your own login credentials.

Who is this guide for?

This guide applies exclusively to customers who manage their hosting through the System Configurator on the previous Webland platform (Classic).

You can access it at classic.webland.ch.

Are you already using the new Webland platform (WHMCS)? Then log in via the new Webland website. The following steps do not apply to the new platform.

Requirements

To create additional FTP users, the following requirements must be met:

  • You have an active hosting subscription on the previous Webland platform (Classic).

  • You know your customer number and customer password.

  • You have access to the hosting account for which you want to create additional FTP users.

  • You have prepared the desired login credentials for the new FTP user.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Log in to the System Configurator

  1. Log in using your customer number and customer password.

2. Select the desired hosting

  1. Select Hosting / Manage Email from the menu.

  2. Find the domain for which you want to create an additional FTP user.

  3. Click Manage next to the corresponding domain.

3. Access FTP/WebDAV user management

  1. Navigate to FTP / WebDAV Users.

  2. You will see an overview of your existing FTP and WebDAV users.

  3. Here you can manage existing users and configure additional FTP accounts.

4. Create an additional FTP user

  1. Select the option to create a new user in the FTP/WebDAV user management section.

  2. Enter the desired login credentials for the new FTP user.

  3. Configure the available settings according to your requirements.

  4. Save the settings to create the new FTP user.

Once the new FTP user has been created successfully, they can access the configured webspace using their individual login credentials.

Important Notes

  • Individual accounts: Separate FTP users can be created for different people, each with their own login credentials.

  • Strong passwords: Use a strong and preferably unique password for each FTP user.

  • Login credentials: Only share FTP login credentials with authorised individuals.

  • User management: Existing FTP users can be managed through the System Configurator, and their login credentials can be updated when necessary.

  • Access permissions: When creating a user, check which access options are available for that account.
