Here you will learn how to connect additional domains or subdomains to your existing hosting on the previous Webland platform (Classic), point them to specific directories or redirect them to other websites.
Who does this guide apply to?
This guide applies exclusively to customers who manage their hosting through the System Configurator on the previous Webland platform (Classic).
You can access it at classic.webland.ch.
Are you already using the new Webland platform (WHMCS)? If so, log in via the new Webland website. The following steps do not apply to the new platform.
Requirements
You have an active hosting plan on the previous Webland platform (Classic).
You know your customer number and customer password.
You have an additional domain or subdomain that you want to connect to your hosting.
The domain must be configured accordingly. Additional DNS adjustments may be required for domains managed by external providers.
1. What is Domain Mapping?
Domain Mapping allows you to connect additional domains or subdomains to your existing hosting without necessarily needing a separate hosting plan.
You can specify which directory or website the additional domain should point to.
For example, you can:
Connect an additional domain to your existing website.
Point a domain to a specific subdirectory within your hosting.
Redirect a domain to an external website.
Edit or remove existing domain mappings at any time.
Important: Domain Mapping does not replace domain registration. The domain you want to use must already be registered and correctly point to your hosting.
2. Log in to the System Configurator
Open the Classic login page.
Select System Configurator.
Log in using your customer number and customer password.
Select "Manage Hosting / Email".
Click "Manage" next to the hosting package you want to configure.
Select "Domain Mappings".
3. Add a new Domain MappingAfter opening the "Domain Mappings" menu, you can add an additional domain or subdomain.
Step 1: Enter the domain name
Locate the input field "Enter the new domain name here".
Enter the domain or subdomain you want to add.
Example:
mydomain.chMake sure you enter the domain name correctly, without any additional spaces.
Step 2: Specify the destination
Specify where the additional domain should point to.
The following options are available:
Input | Function |
| Points to the main directory (root directory) of your website. |
| Points to the |
| Redirects to an external website. |
Choose the destination that best suits your requirements.
Step 3: Save the Domain Mapping
Check the entered domain name and the selected destination.
Click "Add Mapping".
The new domain mapping will be created and displayed in the overview.
Important: To ensure that the additional domain is accessible, it must correctly point to your hosting. If your domain is managed by another provider, check the corresponding DNS settings.
4. Manage existing Domain MappingsYou can edit or remove existing domain mappings at any time in the System Configurator.
Edit a Domain Mapping
Open the "Domain Mappings" menu.
Select the mapping you want to modify from the overview.
Click "Edit".
Adjust the destination as required and save your changes.
Delete a Domain Mapping
Open the "Domain Mappings" menu.
Select the mapping you want to remove.
Click "Delete".
Confirm the deletion if prompted.
Important: Deleting a domain mapping only removes the connection between the domain and your hosting. The domain registration itself remains unaffected.
Frequently Asked Questions and TroubleshootingWhat is the difference between a domain and Domain Mapping?
A domain is a registered internet address, such as
mydomain.ch. Domain Mapping connects this address to an existing hosting package and determines which content is accessible through it.
Can I connect multiple domains to the same hosting package?
Yes, you can connect additional domains or subdomains to your hosting using domain mappings. The number of available mappings may depend on your hosting plan.
Can I point a domain to a subdirectory?
Yes, you can specify a destination such as
/abc. This allows the additional domain to point to the corresponding subdirectory within your hosting.
Can I redirect a domain to an external website?
Yes, you can enter a complete external URL, such as
http://www.domain.ch, as the destination.
My additional domain is not accessible after setting up Domain Mapping.
Check that the domain is correctly registered and that its DNS settings point to your hosting. Please note that DNS changes may take some time to propagate worldwide.
If the domain is still not accessible, please contact our support team.
Can I modify an existing Domain Mapping?
Yes, open the "Domain Mappings" menu, select the mapping you want to modify and click "Edit".
Will my domain be deleted if I remove the mapping?
No. Deleting a domain mapping only removes the connection to your hosting. The domain registration remains active.
I cannot find the "Domain Mappings" menu.
Make sure you have selected the correct hosting package under "Manage Hosting / Email" in the System Configurator and clicked "Manage".
If the menu is still not displayed, please contact our support team.
I am already using the new Webland platform.
If you manage your hosting through the new Webland platform (WHMCS), log in via the new Webland website. This guide applies exclusively to the System Configurator on the previous Classic platform.
Tip: After setting up a domain mapping, check that the additional domain is accessible and displays the correct content. If you want to connect multiple domains to the same website, make sure that all domains point to the correct destination.
