You may need your hosting IP address to connect an externally managed domain to your website. This guide explains where to find the address in cPanel and how to use it in DNS records.
Which hosting services does this guide apply to?
This guide applies exclusively to customers whose hosting is on the new Webland platform (WHMCS) and uses cPanel.
It does not apply to Essential Hosting without cPanel.
If you use the previous Webland platform with System Configurator or Domain Manager, sign in at classic.webland.ch. The following steps do not apply to that platform.
Requirements
You have an active hosting service with cPanel.
You have access to the client area and the associated cPanel account.
If you want to change DNS records, you have access to your domain’s DNS management.
Step 1: Log in to cPanel
Sign in to the client area on the new Webland platform.
Find your hosting under your active services.
Click Log in to cPanel.
You will be logged in automatically.
Step 2: Find General Information
On the cPanel home page, find General Information. This section is usually displayed to the right of the available tools.
This section contains general information about your hosting account and the server on which it is hosted.
Step 3: Find the IP address
Look for one of these fields:
Field | Meaning |
Shared IP Address | An IP address that multiple hosting accounts or websites on the server may share. |
Important: Do not use Last Login IP Address. This field displays an IP address used to access the account.
Troubleshooting
I cannot find the IP address
Check whether Dedicated IP Address appears instead of Shared IP Address. If no hosting IP is visible, contact Webland Support and identify the hosting service concerned.
The domain still displays the wrong website
Check that:
You changed the DNS zone with the authoritative DNS provider.
The A record contains the correct IP address.
The domain is configured in cPanel.
Your website files are in the assigned document root.
DNS changes may become visible at different times. Depending on previous cache settings, this can take up to 24–48 hours.
Opening the IP address does not display my website
This can happen when websites share an IP address. The web server uses the requested domain name to determine which website to display. Test your website using its domain.
