Database Wizard guides you through creating a database, a database user and the required permissions. Once setup is complete, the user is already assigned to the database.
Who is this guide for?
This guide applies exclusively to customers whose hosting with cPanel is managed on the new Webland platform (WHMCS).
Do you use Essential Hosting without cPanel? Follow the guide “Essential Hosting: Creating and Managing Databases”.
Do you use the System Configurator or Domain Manager? Sign in at classic.webland.ch. The steps below do not apply to the classic Webland platform.
Requirements
You have an active hosting service with cPanel and database functionality.
You can access the hosting service in the client area.
Database Wizard is available in cPanel.
Your hosting plan has capacity for another database.
Whether MySQL or MariaDB is used depends on your hosting server’s configuration. The wizard does not let you choose between the two database systems.
1. Sign in to cPanel
Open the home page (dashboard) in the Webland client area.
Find the relevant hosting plan under your active services.
Click Log in to cPanel.
You will be redirected to cPanel through automatic sign-in.
2. Open Database Wizard and create the database
In cPanel, open Database Wizard under Databases.
Enter the desired name in the New Database field.
Click Next Step.
Choose a short, descriptive name, such as website or shop. Prefer letters and numbers, and follow the requirements displayed in the form.
If cPanel adds an account prefix, it forms part of the full database name. Use the complete name displayed in cPanel when configuring your application.
After creating the database, the wizard takes you to database user setup.
3. Create a database user
Enter the desired username in the Username field.
Set a long, unique password. Alternatively, use Password Generator.
Enter the password again in the confirmation field.
Store the full username and password securely.
Click Create User.
The database user is a separate login for your application. Its credentials are independent of your Webland client area password and any WordPress administrator login.
4. Grant permissions and complete setup
Select the permissions your website or application requires.
If the application requires full permissions for this database, select ALL PRIVILEGES.
Click Next Step.
cPanel then confirms successful setup.
The wizard automatically assigns the user to the database. You do not need to assign the user again through Manage My Databases afterwards.
5. Use the database in your application
You will need the following connection details:
Setting | Value to use |
Database name | Full database name, including any prefix |
Database user | Full username, including any prefix |
Database password | The password set in the wizard |
Database server / Host | The database server address specified for your hosting |
Enter these details in your application’s database configuration. If you do not know the server address, contact our support team.
Additional options after setup

Add another database | Start the wizard for another database. |
Add another user for your database | Open management to create additional users and assign them to a database. |
Return to Manage My Databases | Manage existing databases, users and permissions. |
Return Home | Return to the cPanel home page. |
Frequently asked questions and troubleshooting
The database name or username is not accepted.
Follow the displayed character and length requirements. Any automatically added account prefix counts towards the maximum total length.
I cannot create another database.
Check whether you have reached your plan’s database limit. Review the error
message in cPanel.
My application cannot connect.
Check the database name, username, password and server address. Under Manage My Databases, also check the user assignment and granted permissions.
I want to change permissions later.
Open Manage My Databases and edit the assigned user’s permissions for the relevant database.
